Plose entleeren (emptying Plose), 2024

EMPTYING PLOSE is a site-specific, poetic-provocative exploration of the water cycle at the intersection of nature, the body, and society. Starting from a personal observation — the first words of my daughter: “pee” and “poo” — the idea emerged to artistically investigate the connection between bodily excretions, water management, and the alpine environment.

The project plays with the double meaning of “Plose” — the local mountain of Bressanone, known for its mineral water, and a South Tyrolean dialect term sounding similar to the word for the human bladder. Between mountain and body, spring and excretion, a web of meanings unfolds that makes the water cycle tangible in both a sensory and critical way.

At the center lies the absurd yet touching idea of letting treated urine from children attending schools in Bressanone “snow” over the city with the help of a snow cannon — accompanied by a sorbet prepared using the particularly soft water from Plose bottles. In this way, a temporary artificial and sensory experience is created that makes the circularity of our actions perceptible and raises questions about resources, sustainability, and responsibility.

EMPTYING PLOSE is conceived as an invitation to reflect — on the visible and invisible cycles that shape our lives, on the relationship between body and landscape, and on the beauty as well as the absurdity of human intervention in natural systems.
