Benno Barth
1962-2007
Benno Barth, born on May 7, 1962, in Bressanone, studied civil engineering in Vienna and worked from 1992 onward as an independent planner in Bressanone. He taught at the Academy of Design and, following its closure, at the Faculty of Design and Arts of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
At the center of his interests were form and design — from the smallest everyday object to large sports stadiums. In this context, he was also deeply engaged with heritage preservation, contemporary art, and literature, especially poetry. Through his committed, critical, and sensitive nature, he actively contributed to contemporary issues ranging from urban design to broader social and political discussions.
Benno Barth passed away on May 11, 2007, following a serious illness.
